Jeanine Hofland Contemporary Art proudly presents the exhibition ‘Facing Mercurio’, a collaborative exhibition by French artist Rebecca Digne (1982) and Italian artist Anna Franceschini (1979).
The sharing of interest in historical cinema and the similar use of film as a perishable and fragile medium led to a dialogue between the two ever since they met during their residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten between 2010 and 2011. Within the context of this proposition Digne and Franceschini decided to establish a dialogue by collecting, sharing and fusing archival fragments from both of their practices which resulted into the collaborative video work ‘Facing Mercurio’.
Alongside ‘Facing Mercurio’ both artists will present an individual work: ‘Kino Peinture’ by Rebecca Digne and ‘You must believe it to see it (Le tempestaire)’ by Anna Franceschini.
