About :

The title of the exhibition poses the deformable feature of the chewing gum as constellation, emphasizing the sometimes absurd and variable digestion of daily life reality. The search for the depiction of universal chimera, or a universal visualization of our mental space, characterizes Pim Blokker’s paintings, wherein he often bends earnest and serious narratives into surreal, absurd and sometimes hilarious situations.
Blokker approaches the canvas as a performance of the subconscious, where layers of paint and colors balance between order and chaos, where pure abstraction merges with figurative elements and where seriousness and humor alternate and assemble.
